The disused mine Teufelsgrund

The township of Münstertal purchased the group of pits “Teufelsgrund” in 1968. With the finishings of the Schindlerstollen, it became possible to revive the memory of Münstertal’s mining tradition and to ensure the access to the old adits. Soon after the reopening it became clear that the special purity of the air helped asthmatic patients to recover. Therefore, a special “asthma therapy station” was established in a side adit of the mine.

Opening Hours

April, 1st - Oktober, 31st:

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 10 a.m .- 4 p.m.

Sunday and Holidays: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

July - August:

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 10 a.m .- 4 p.m.

Sunday and Holiday: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Wednesday and Friday: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Last Admittance: 4 p.m.

Upon request, guided tours for groups are also available beyond the opening hours. Also available are special guided tours and treasure hunts for children.

Group Fee (at least 20 persons): 4,- EUR

Treasure Hunt:

A special tour that is not only fun for little visitors five years of age and older… after the tour you can hunt real treasures. The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours. Good footwear and a jacket are strongly recommended, as the temperature of the mine is only about 8° C throughout the whole year. The treasure hunt is not dependent on weather. Reservations are necessary.
